Hey! If you've been online recently, you may have seen this video, which points out that street sizing and bridal sizing are a little bit different. That video started a discussion in our comment section, so let's talk about it.

Ultimately, size is just a number. We take your measurements to be exact, but why is bridal sizing so weird? Girl... there's many factors at play: like material, construction, silhouette, where you're at in your journey, etc. There are so many different factors at play, and bridal sizing typically runs two sizes bigger than your normal sizing anyway.

Historically, bridal sizing has been based off European pattern-making standards from the 1940s and 1950s. What they failed to include was diversity and body type.Throughout time, street sizing has changed the way we see sizing. However, bridal sizing has stayed in the exact same spot.

When you say yes to your dress at Marcella's Bridal, we will take your measurements, look at the size chart, and decide what's going to fit you best based on that. Your dress might still need some alterations to ensure that it is fitting you perfectly. We love all bodies here, which is why we carry sizes 4 through 30 in our store. So book your appointment with us today so that we can make your wedding gown dreams come true. Bye!
