A Mother’s Day Tribute: Love & Legacy- A Conversation with Marcella & Kassi

This Mother's Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the heart and soul behind Marcella’s Bridal: a mother-daughter team who have turned a shared passion into a thriving bridal boutique that has served countless brides over the years. Founded by Marcella and later joined by her daughter Kassi, Marcella’s Bridal is more than just a shop—it’s a legacy built on love, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to helping women feel their most beautiful.

We sat down with Marcella and Kassi to talk about their journey, their bond, and what it means to work side by side in the bridal world.

What was it like when Kassi joined the business, and how did that transition impact your dynamic as both family and business partners?

Marcella: "We had to learn first of all how to lead together before I could turn the leadership over to Kassi. It was really important that we found that balance as we grew into the changes. It was also vital, as a parent, that when Kassi was fully ready to take the lead, I turned it over to her and moved out of her way."

You each have unique roles in the store—one running the sales team and the other managing custom alterations. How do your strengths complement each other in creating the perfect experience for brides?

Kassi: "Marcella has the creative soul that is needed for designing and redesigning wedding gowns, and I have a more analytic/creative mind. Together we balance each other's weaknesses with our own strengths, and it has made Marcella's Bridal stronger than ever."

What’s the most special part about working together as a mother-daughter duo in the bridal industry?

Marcella: "For me, watching my daughter thrive and grow in an industry where our job is to create a life moment for each bride makes me so proud to see her lift up and encourage other women."

Kassi: "My mom has such deep roots in our bridal community that getting to step into her role has truly enlightened me on how much of an impact she has made in our local community."

Do you have a favorite bride story where your teamwork—between fittings, alterations, and styling—helped bring a dream dress to life?

Marcella & Kassi: "The Workman family is who came to both of our minds! This story started years ago with a phone call and transpired into three daughters (and a sister-in-law) who became family as each one let us lead them through their wedding gown journey. With most of them, Kassi styled and navigated their individual aesthetic before bringing Marcella in to customize all of their dreams. We worked together with each family member and have created a lasting friendship between our families."

We celebrated Mother's Day this month. What does this holiday mean to you, and how has running a business together strengthened your bond as mother and daughter?

Kassi: "Since we get to be a part of each other's daily lives, the holiday isn't a huge day for us. We live next to each other, work most days together, and also spend time (if there is any left) outside of work with each other. So, running a business together isn't what strengthened our bond as mother and daughter. Our bond is what strengthens our partnership at Marcella's Bridal."

Marcella: "We are really blessed as a mother and daughter to be able to navigate our relationship and run a business side by side while always keeping our personal relationship the primary focus."
